Touch Screens

A touch screen is a type of display screen that senses and responds to the pressure
of a user’s fingers or a stylus. It can be used to replace buttons and other types of

type.
Resistive and capacitive touchscreens are the most common type of touch screen.
These types are usually made of a glass base with a conductive layer, separated by
a grid of spacer dots. Both of these types are inexpensive and can be used with a
wide range of pointing devices. Nonetheless, they are not as durable as capacitive
screens.
Capacitive and resistive touch screens can be made to withstand moisture and high
and low temperatures. However, they are not recommended for environments with

the screen, the conductive layer responds immediately to the contact. During the
time between touch and detecting the end of the contact, a small electric field is
created.
Resistive touch screens are used in a wide range of applications, including industrial
applications, POS systems, and control systems. Typically, they are made of an
acrylic or glass base with a conductive layer, which is separated by a grid of spacer
dots.

Projective capacitive touch screens utilize mutual capacitance to support multi-touch
activation. They also use a network of electrodes that detect audio signals.
